Captcha Gone Mad

While I can fully understand and appreciate people using captcha on web submission forms to stop spam / robots, I really don't get why anyone would make a captcha so complicated that it is unusable.

The IIA Netvisionary nomination form has this "lovely" captcha on it:
inaccessible captchaI saw that and my eyes glazed over.

Sorry guys, but there is no way that I'm even going to attempt to make sense of that.

It's really laughable! How can a site clame to have an accessibility statement... http://www.iia.ie/accessibility/ but then use such an inaccessible form of Captcha. What's worse is it's widely known to be inaccessible!

Nevermind the ridiculous captcha... there's an error on submission of the form!
