US Post Office Star Wars Set
I don’t keep track of the US post office‘s stamp releases, though I really ought to, as they release some really lovely stamps every year.
They did a set of Star Wars themed stamps which look really tasty:

Restarting Windows XP Remotely Using DOS
This is more of a reminder for myself than anything else ….
If you need to reboot a Windows XP machine from DOS prompt the command is:
shutdown -r
If you just use the command:
shutdown
without passing any other parameters to it you’ll get the help screen with a variety of options.
Kind of useful if your PC (located remotely) is acting up and a reboot is required

Back in the Office – WordPress Without Caching is Evil
I’m back in the office this morning and trying to catch up on emails etc.,
If you’ve emailed me in the last week or so and haven’t got a reply now you know why
Of course if your email didn’t have a semantic subject line I probably won’t find it ever – sorry!
I’ve also got a bit tired of clients being negatively affected by WordPress’ dumb caching (or simple lack of it!) which has led to this.
All I’ll say is this. When this site made it onto the frontpage of Digg the server barely flinched. If I’d been using a default install of WordPress the site would have taken out the entire server…

FilmReviews.ie Gets a New Contributor
Pete has offered to write some reviews for filmreviews.ie which is great news.
He’s already posted his first one, which is of a rather odd looking film… Not that I’m surprised by that !
Back in the days of the .com boom in Ireland Peter was a contributor to some of the now defunct RondoMondo sites, including Muse.ie (the original version – not the new one).
I was going to post a link to the archive.org version of the sites, but there is very little to see there unfortunately!
If anyone else would like to post reviews let me know

Travolta In Hollywood
Since I’m now able to get photos from my camera to my computer I’ll be uploading them over the next couple of days.
The weekend before DomainFest we were having a drink in the lobby of the hotel when we got to see several stars including John Travolta.
And here is the photo to prove it!

Oscars 2008
The nominees for this year’s Oscars were announced the other day, although the announcement was overshadowed by the death of Heath Ledger.
It certainly looks like Atonement will pick up at least one award. I still haven’t seen it, but it’s had fantastic reviews. I was hoping to see it on the plane back from LA, but I ended up sleeping instead!
Ratatouille, which was one of my favourite films of the last year, has a couple of nominations, but didn’t get listed under the “main” film category, which is a pity.
So for the next few weeks I’m going to be trying to watch as many of the nominated films as possible… That should keep me out of trouble for a few days!

12 Thousand Emails
There are over 12 thousand emails in my inbox that have accumulated during my recent trip to Los Angeles. I’ll probably start downloading them to my office PC on Sunday afternoon, so that they’re all in place for when I get into the office on Monday.
Of course I don’t have to read all of them, as many are automated etc., but if I’m going to start using a Blackberry at some point I will really need to do some more rejigging of where my email goes!
