Web Design Annoyances – Flash

by in w3c, Web Design

Don’t get me wrong – I actually like Flash if it’s used properly.
However I would expect a Flash powered site to warn me that I need the Flash plugin if I don’t have it installed or need a newer version.
Not so with Magico! If you visit their site without Flash or without a recent version (not sure which was my case.. ) you end up with a great big black square on the page where their Flash content is meant to be.
And these guys got shortlisted as Best Web Design Agency at the Golden Spiders?

  1. From Richard Hearne:

One of the poorer sites in the standards and accessibility tests I ran.
The light text on light background in the footer is also cutting it fine in terms of hidden text for Google. I’ve seen sites banned for similar border-line infringements.
Any idea what a ‘site penetration ratio’ is? In fairness it’s in a testimonial on the front page, but the mind does boggle as to what they did for that guy :)

    Actually, it’s a misprint.
They left out an H in the first word.

It says in the About Us section that they specialise in web accessibility. Surely the Hughes and Hughes site, the Sisk site and, well, all of the sites in their portfolio would benefit if they practiced what they preached as opposed to playing bulls**t buzzword bingo with their clients?
