A lot of people encounter problems in pronouncing his first name correctly.

The correct pronunciation is mēke'lā (if you can read phonetics - if you can't you'll just have to believe me).

His name is of Italian origin and has one "L".

Michele was shortlisted for the Irish Internet Association Net Visionary Awards 2005 under the Internet Entrepreneur category.

In 2006 he was shortlisted for both Internet Entrepreneur and Best Blogger.

In 2008 he was shortlisted in three categories; Business Blogger, Internet Entrepreneur and Internet Marketer.

He won the IIA Net Visionary Awards in 2008 for Best Business Blogger and Best Internet Marketer

Blacknight won best Business Blog at the Irish Blog Awards in 2009.

He has been shortlisted for an IIA Net Visionary Award in 2010 for Best Use of Social Media.

He is on the Irish enum policy advisory board, where he represents the Irish Internet Association.

As of 2010 he sits on the Registrar Board of Eurid, the .eu registry.

He is also a voting member of the Registrars Stakeholder Group within the GNSO.

He is actively involved in the internet / ICT industry in Ireland as well as being an actively involved with several open source projects.
He has given talks on a range of topics from email filtering, through blogging to online marketing to a number of organisations including Skynet, IIA, local enterprise boards, ICANN and Investnet / First Tuesday.

PC Live, one of Ireland's consumer electronics magazines, published a column by him every month up until July 2008.

From January 2008 to July 2008 a short column was also being published in the ICT supplement of  The Sunday Business Post.

He is addicted to Scrubs, NCIS, House and Stargate Atlantis (though it has been cancelled!). He has been known to play a few games online, such as Enemy Territory or Battlefield 2 (and BF2142), although he's not particularly good at either and would never describe himself as a gamer.
